How To Adjust The Osprey Global Green Laser

Green Laser For Handguns

At BuyOspreyGlobal we have many laser Options for handguns. We have two full size green rail lasers, which fit full size pistols. The Pistols must come with at least one cross rail like m&p, FN or Glocks but many others pistols come with the attachment rails. If you have a Hellcat or Taurus GTC or other Sub Compact Handgun there is also a compact range available to fit the smaller barrel size. Again the cross thread rail must be on the barrel or the green Laser won’t Fit.

How To Attach Your Osprey Green Laser.

All of Ospreys green lasers attach in a similar way. There is one cross thread screw. You loosen this screw and line the cross thread screw with your rail. Tighten the screw and it will close the gap and tighten onto the gun. It should feel secure with no wiggle. If you have a model of weapon that does not have a cross thread attachement like the 1911 or certain glocks then we found the Revolver Tactical rail attachments really useful.

Green Laser For AR-15 And Other Tactical Platforms.

Osprey does recommend and make Tactical platform specific lasers, though you can attach pistol lasers to any picatinny rail if you prefer. The Green Battlegrip is very popular for home self defense and law enforcement carry situations. It is a one piece bipod attachment that has a 500 lumen strobe light coupled with a tactical light and a high power green laser. There are also green laser designators built for hog hunting because it will expand and detract the focus of the laser so It can double as a weapon coupled hog light. There are alos red dot/ laser combinations and riflescope/ laser combinations that gives you the best of sights and back up tactical lights.

Red Laser For Pistols And Handguns.

Osprey Global also make red lasers for pistols as opposed to just green lasers. They attach and sight in the same way as the green. The green are more popular but the red can be just as effective.

Green Laser VS Red Laser

Many people are confused on the benefits of one color laser over another. Most prefer the Osprey green laser in preference to the red laser as green is the easiest to see quickly. This means that you will find it quicker in a serious situation. The Osprey red laser is normally all you would need, especially when it is a low lit situation. The battery is better on the green laser and if you are using it as a compliance tool or as a warning to an intruder, it is easier for them to realize that you have them dead to rights and in your sights. Long story short you can see the green laser dot better, it is more effective to intimidate an intruder with better but on the downside it will also increases your own visibility.

Blue Laser On An AR-15. What’s The Benefit?

Blue lasers have benefits as well. If you are color blind you can see the dot much easier due to it being in the middle of the color spectrum meaning it is more effective than red or green. It also has the best battery life of all lasers and is not adversely affected by extreme temperatures the way some red lasers are. A key thing to think about is it is slightly harder to see a blue laser than a green laser; this can be a good thing. If the lights are off and the “bad guys’ see a bright green laser they may be able to find your position easily but with a blue laser, though it still indicates where you are, it will not be as easy for the enemy to “follow back” the beam to you. If someone wants a recommendation we usually recommend green because for civilians who want to keep it as simple as possible then green is probably still the best option for you.

How To Sight In Your Green, Red or Blue Laser.

After you have securely attached your chosen laser to your weapons rail system it is time to sight it in. To Move the laser up and down and left and right there will be a small adjustment hole underneath and a small adjustment hole on the side of the laser. Inside the box will be a small allan wrench to insert into the small adjustment points to move the laser. The Adjustment on the bottom will move the laser up and down and the side adjustment point will shift the laser left and right. Now you have to find out where your bullet is in relation to where your laser is showing your point of impact should be. If you are  sighting in a scope tactical laser or red dot we talk in depth of best practices in other articles on this website.

Three Easy Options For Sighting In Your Weapon:

Use A Laser Boresight.

The same is true on 223,9mm or any other caliber that you are sighting in. Chamber your laser bore so the laser is on and showing through the barrel a laser that indicates your point of impact. Do this at 25 yards. Turn on your green laser or other laser you are sighting in. The boresight will be showing a different point of impact than the laser itself. Adjust the laser using the adjustment points until both lasers meet. You are now ready to run live rounds to fine tune your laser. If you want to dive into the history of the laser boresight we have articles available outlining best use and their history.

Use Your Existing peep or iron sights

If you have iron sights on your rifle or peep sights of some description on your pistol that you now are accurate you can use these to sight in your laser. If your iron sights are not accurate then this is a pointless activity. Attach and turn on your laser. Look at your iron sights and see where the lasers are in relation to them. If the laser is pointing high or off to the right use the adjustment screws to bring it in line with the iron sights. Once both the laser and the fixed sights are indicating the same point of impact you are close and it is a good idea to run a few rounds to fine tune your zero.

Use live ammunition: Best Skill To Have.

This is the most necessary skill to have of the three. Whether you use fixed sights or boresights to get on target you need to be able to “fine tune” your zero. The first step is to get “on paper”. Usually this means bringing the target closer than your intended zero, often within 25 yards. Once you are getting “on paper” then turn on your laser and take a shot. Aim at a specific target like a central target dot. Fire a round. Not where it hits in relation to where the laser was aimed. If it was aimed three inches to the left then adjust the laser and fire again. Repeat this process until you are hitting consistently.

Sighting in lasers and human error

Be careful to test your zero. Once you hit it once do not pack up and go home. Most people are very bad at being consistent with shooting and even more so with handguns. We pull to the left, right, brace for recoil or numerous other mistakes we don't like to admit. Make sure you are consistent with your laser but make sure you practice without your laser as well. Make sure you can hit your desired distance and target consistently; only then can we confidently say we have an accurate laser.

Red Dot VS Lasers

There is no right answer when it comes to what you will use best. We go into detail on the benefits of both the red dot and the laser set-up in the WHICH OPTION WORKS BEST article but both can have their place in an arsenal. The important thing is to use what feels comfortable to you. With comfort comes efficiency and the more efficient you are the more ready you are for when you need to use your laser red dot or common sense so try to use all three regularly.

Osprey Green Lasers For Pistols And AR-15; Analysis:

Osprey green lasers are easy to attach and intuitive to use. They can be used as a warning shot letting the opposition know you are armed and ready. They can act as a very useful crutch to lean on in a low lit combat scenario. They should not replace good technique and practice. We at BuyOspreyGlobal urge you to practice with and without your equipment, be it green lasers, riflescopes or red dots. As to the question of which is better red dots or lasers? It depends on your scenario, set up and preference. A red dot will let you be more stealth but takes more technique while a laser will let you , quite literally, shoot from the hip. If you cant decide between the two, why not use both.
