Osprey Global Has New Blue Laser Products
Osprey Scopes has just released two new products that incorporate a blue laser. They have built a Blue Laser Battlegrip and a Mini Blue Pistol laser. So whats the go? Why are blue lasers becoming more and more popular? A lot of shooting enthusiasts are opting for blue laser options on their everyday carry and AR setups. There are numerous reasons why Blue is becoming a preferred option when it comes to lasers.
We will talk on that and on the new product releases with blue lasers from Osprey Global.
Why Blue Lasers?
Blue lasers have numerous benefits over green or red lasers depending on what kind of shooter you are and what weapon you are putting it on.
If you are color blind or on the color blind spectrum then you will find the Osprey blue laser significantly easier to see than either the green or red. This is because blue sits on a part of the color spectrum that makes it easier to differentiate for those with a deficiency in recognising green or red.
Initially many people not on the red/green deficiency will prefer green lasers like the Osprey mini green laser or Green Laser Combo as they are easily the quickest laser to find and identify. This can be an advantage when everything else is happening in a stressful situation. You haven’t been to the range in months even though you had good intentions, you hear a window smash and you reach for the gun near your bed. You have adrenalin flooding your system, your nerves are jumpy and you have loved ones in the house with you. You can barley remember how to hold your gun, let alone how to function the laser. This is where you want to K.I.S.S: Keep It Simple Stupid! So the Osprey green laser turns on and you know under thirty yards the bullets going to go right where the green dot is. Now you just need to find your target.
Heres the problem. You start searching for a bad guy with a laser you are signaling your position from three rooms away. That bright green laser is a big advertisement of your position. This goes for all lasers and lights and should be considered in your " in case of emergency" plan.
For reference, never turn on your laser until you see your target. It is a compliance tool, similar to racking a shotgun : when someone has a laser on their chest or hears a shotgun getting pumped they all of a sudden remember their manners and become compliant. Osprey Global tactical lasers are built to help stop you from having to engage at all.
Here comes the benifit of the blue laser. With the Osprey green laser you will see it better BUT so will the bad guy. It will literally pick up the dust in the air and point a trail of green back to your position. They call this follow back. The Osprey blue laser on the other hand minimises this effect. It is harder for the enemy to pin-point your position. This is the main benefit of the Osprey Mini Blue Laser if you are shooting handguns and the Osprey Blue Battlegrip if you have an AR platform or tactical shotgun.
Other Blue Laser Advantages
Osprey Scopes make various blue laser products. The main reason they are worth the extra dollars to get the premium product is to prevent follow back as mentioned above. There is one other large advantage: Battery Life.
An Osprey blue laser has about an extra 33 percent battery life. The blue laser chews up about a third less energy than the green lasers and about 75 percent less than the Osprey red lasers.
Realistically you should change your batteries every year and regardless of the color of your laser it shouldn’t run out if using occasionally throughout the year. For the record blue has the best battery life of all lasers. Red lasers use the most energy to keeprunning and the green is better but not as good as the blue lasers.
Osprey Globals Blue Laser Products.
Osprey Scopes has three main blue laser products. One is made for the handgun and pistols while Osprey Battlegrip With Blue Laser is made for AR platforms and tactical shotguns. Osprey also has a rifle blue laser available as a stand alone blue laser built for tactical rifles of all descriptions.
- Osprey Global Mini Blue Laser: The Osprey mini blue laser is made specifically for handguns being used for self defense. It is small enough to use as an every day carry. You can activate the switch via a pressure button on the right or the left so however you pick up and function your weapon there is a button right where you need it. The other benifit of the Osprey mini blue laser is that there is zero way to “accidentally” turn it on. This is an important factor cause if you turn it on without knowing your targets position you are just signalling yours.

- Osprey Global Battlegrip Laser Flashlight Combo Blue The Osprey Blue Battlegrip was made specifically for tactical platforms like the AR-15 and tactical shotguns. - Osprey Global Blue Rifle Laser: The Osprey Global blue rifle laser is ideal for those wanting a full strength blue laser on their tactical rifle but already have or feel they don’t need a disorientating light. Sensible Advice
Don’t Dismiss Green Lasers Completley
Although green lasers create more follow back they are not to be discredited. In fact that follow back can work to your advantage. Sometimes you want your target to not only know that you are there but also know that you are armed. Also if you find the laser quicker then it may be simpler to just get what you will see faster. Below are Osprey Scopes top three selling green lasers.
- Battlegrip Laser Combo Green: Made for tactical shotguns and the AR platform. Has disorientating strobe and tactical light built in.
- Osprey Green Laser Combo For Pistols: A full size green laser coupled with a disorientating strobe made specifically for full size handguns with rails.
- Osprey Mini Green Laser: Ospreys most compact green laser. Built to fit all handguns with a rail including the Hellcat and the Taurus G2C.
So Green Laser OR Blue Laser?
There is no right answer just right for you. The rule of thumb is if you are going to practice with your laser and weapon regularly then blue may be the best bet for you. The reason for this is that you will be accustomed to finding the blue laser quickly. If you are going to intall it then put it by your bed then forget about it then the green laser may be the better option for you as it is the simpler of the two. Just remember whichever option you choose, only turn it on when you can see your target. The rest is scemantics.
